Crowd3 is open Source Software. http://crowd3.sourceforge.net Copyright Dennis Damico, dennis508@yahoo.com MIT license: https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT Installation Crowd3 runs only on 64-bit Windows and Linux systems. A modern, fairly fast processor with ample memory is preferred. (The program will run slowly on slow, low memory systems.) Older versions of Crowd3 should be uninstalled. On Windows, run the installer file: crowd3.<version>.msi. To execute the program, double click the desktop icon or invoke from the Start menu. On Linux, install the package file, crowd3.<version>.deb using the system package manager. The Crowd3 executable is /usr/bin/crowd3. |

Why is the Crowd3
distribution file so big? The Artificial Intelligence software used by Crowd3 is written in JavaScript. Normally JavaScript runs inside a web browser which contains all the support code needed to execute it. But Crowd3 runs outside of a browser. So the JavaScript support code has to be packaged outside of the browser too. That support code accounts for the large size of Crowd3. (I don't like it either.) The benefit is that this version is much better than previous versions at finding people in photos and separating them from their background. Where is the source code? The source code is inside the installed product. On Windows, the source code is at <installation folder>\crowd3\app-<version>\resources\app\src. On Linux the source code is at /usr/lib/crowd3/resources/app/src. This version of Crowd3 was tested with: -Windows 10 -Kubuntu 18.04 Limitations, warnings, and known problems: -Only one instance of Crowd3 may be run at one time. Attempts to start a second instance will fail. -Windows: If you use removable drives, they should always be mounted under the same drive letter. |
